  • Table Tennis Racket Weight and Balance: Why Your Setup Feels Heavy

    Jun 6, 2026
Table tennis racket total weight and balance equipment setup

A table tennis racket can feel heavy even when the total weight looks normal. The reason is often balance, rubber weight and where the mass sits in the hand.

Two heavy rubbers can move the balance toward the head of the racket. This makes opening loops and repeated counter-topspin strokes more demanding, especially late in training.

A heavier blade can feel stable, but it may slow the wrist on serve, receive and quick backhand exchanges. A lighter blade with heavy rubbers can still feel head-heavy.

If your arm gets tired quickly, check the full setup, not just the blade weight. Lighter sponge, trimmed rubber choice or a better-balanced blade can make the racket easier to use.
